There’s something timeless about a bathroom where every element feels like it belongs.
For Barbara’s master bathroom remodel, the goal was to create a space that feels polished and welcoming while still being practical for everyday life. Rather than relying on one dramatic feature, the design brings together classic finishes, warm cabinetry, polished chrome fixtures, and durable surfaces to create a bathroom that feels cohesive from top to bottom.
The foundation of the room begins with cabinetry by Bertch. Northbrook door styles in Lighthouse colored finish keeps the room feeling bright and clean, while the Northbrook door style provides a classic look that won’t feel dated as styles change. Jeffrey Alexander cabinet pulls from their Milan collection in polished chrome add a crisp finishing touch to the vanities.
The Viatera countertops bring another layer of understated elegance. Everest from the Musica quartz line was selected for the vanity countertop, providing a durable surface with a sophisticated appearance that complements the light cabinetry and surrounding finishes.
And then there is the tile.
The bathroom features Cinder Ivory tile from Virginia Tile Stone, creating a neutral backdrop that ties the entire room together. The larger format keeps the visual field clean and uncluttered while allowing the other elements—from the cabinetry to the fixtures—to stand out.
The fixtures continue that coordinated look with Moen’s Dartmoor collection in polished chrome. The Dartmoor widespread faucets, bathtub and shower faucet, towel bar, towel ring, and toilet paper holder carry the same design language throughout the room. Even the lighting continues the theme with Moen’s Belfield three-light bath fixtures in polished chrome.
For the bathtub, Barbara selected a Kohler Entity 60-inch alcove bathtub, paired with Kohler’s Wellworth toilet. The bathroom also incorporates a pair of Kohler Caxton undermount sinks, keeping the vanity both functional and visually streamlined.
Behind the scenes, details like the Schluter Design-Niche provide practical storage within the shower without interrupting the clean tile installation. Schluter Jolly edge trim in greige gives the tiled areas a finished transition, while the Moen Verso multifunction hand shower adds another layer of everyday functionality.
It may be easy to overlook those smaller decisions when looking at the finished room—but that’s exactly where thoughtful remodeling makes a difference. The right combination of materials, finishes, fixtures, storage, and details creates a bathroom that doesn’t simply look beautiful in photographs. It works beautifully as a space to live in.
Barbara’s bathroom is a great example of what happens when classic design meets careful planning: a bright, cohesive space with plenty of personality, without needing to chase the latest trend.
